HEDWIG

Hi reader! Have you ever seen Harry Potter movie? Ups sorry, perhaps I should ask who haven’t seen Harry Potter movie? No one will raise his hand. It was the most famous and interesting movie has ever been made!  How dare you haven’t seen it?!
As we saw in the movie, Hagrid gave Harry a Hedwig for his first birthday present. Harry was very happy, but it’s not the point. What is HEDWIG?
It’s a creature. It’s not a plant nor human. It’s an owl but it’s not an ordinary owl, because it was snowy owl. I believe you know a lot about an owl, but how about snowy owl? Have you heard it before? So, I will tell you then.

Snowy Owl

The regal Snowy Owl is one of the few birds that can get even non-birders to come out for a look. This largest (by weight) North American owl shows up irregularly in winter to hunt in windswept fields or dunes, a pale shape with catlike yellow eyes. They spend summers far north of the Arctic Circle hunting lemmings, ptarmigan, and other prey in 24-hour daylight. In years of lemming population booms they can raise double or triple the usual number of young.

About
The Snowy Owl is circumpolar and can be found in Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Russia, and many areas north of the Arctic Circle.  It has a  wide distribution area and will at times migrate to areas south of the  Arctic Circle.  There have been reports of Snowy Owls in Ireland,  China, and as far south as Texas and Georgia.
Snowy Owls will most often feed on small rodents including lemmings  and voles.  Rabbits are another staple of the Snowy Owl's diet.  The  owls are opportunistic and will also feed on other types of birds such  as ptarmigans as well as bird eggs of larger birds.

Snowy Owls are very large owls with smoothly rounded heads and no ear tufts. The body is bulky, with dense feathering on the legs that makes the bird look wide at the base when sitting on the ground.

Look for Snowy Owls sitting on or near the ground in wide-open areas. They often perch on rises such as the crests of dunes, or on fenceposts, telephone poles, and hay bales. When they fly they usually stay close to the ground.

Snowy Owls will build their nests on the ground, typically in a higher place than the surrounding land so that they will have good visibility to  predators and prey. In winter, look for Snowy Owls along shorelines of lakes and the ocean, as well as on agricultural fields and airport lands. Snowy Owls breed in the treeless arctic tundra.
Mating season for Snowy Owls can occur from April - June and  sometimes throughout the summer.  The female Snowy Owl will lay  between 2 - 14 eggs per clutch.  After the eggs are laid it will take  between 4 - 5 weeks for the eggs to hatch.  Both the male and female  will tend to the nest until the young are ready to leave.

That's all, a short describe about a cute Hedwig.
Thanks for reading! ^_^
